Q: In the event of a grid power failure can I use the solar energy from the photovoltaic panels as a backup power source?
A: The power inverters shut down in the event of a grid failure in order to assure the safety of the workers who potentially may be working on the power lines. Consequently there is no energy produced by the system in the event of a power failure.
Q: How much land will the system cover?
A: A 10kW system will cover an area approximately 20 feet by 60 feet and will need to have the area to the south of it free of obstructions such as buildings, trees and foilage, parked vehicles, hydro and lighting poles or anything else that may block the sun.
Q: How often are the lease payments paid out?
The lease payment are provided twice yearly.
Q: Can I buy into the project at a latter date?
A: Yes. If the landowner choses not to have any investment in the project at the outset, provisions exist in the lease with CanDo Energy to allow buy-in at a latter date.
Q: How long is the lease contract?
A: The lease payment rate is guaranteed by the Province of Ontario for a period of 20 years. After 20 years the lease will likely be renewed, but the payment rate will not be available until renewal time. |
